Movember: It’s Not About the ’Stache

Mo Bros Put the Focus on Men’s Health

Did you know? Men die an average of 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. In addition, one man dies by suicide worldwide every minute of every day. Changing these statistics is what Movember is all about. (Learn more at us.movember.com.)

Guys, let that “lip foliage” symbolize two ways you pledge to take charge of your health and well-being:

1. Get preventive care. An annual wellness visit covers all the basics, including your family history, current health habits, and a physical exam. Your doctor will discuss preventive care for men, including tests for prostate and testicular cancer, and other conditions. Early detection of serious health issues improves your chances of a full recovery and helps you stay active.

Before you break out the razor, make an appointment for an annual wellness exam. There is no cost to you (or for other preventive services recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force) when you choose an in-network provider.

2. Be aware of your mental health. Men are just as likely as women to experience depression, anxiety, or stress…but less likely to acknowledge their struggle or seek help.

If you are experiencing anxious or hopeless thoughts, sleeplessness, loss of interest in activities you enjoy, avoiding friends, or self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, talk to your medical doctor to rule out any health issues.
Consider a confidential, online visit with a therapist to help you identify strategies to get your life back on track. Schedule a virtual visit on the Teladoc app, online at teladochealth.com, or call 1-800-TELADOC (835-2362). There is no cost to you.
