Avoid the Triple-demic 2023
Go on the Offensive this Fall
The U.S. is facing another “triple-demic” when three respiratory illnesses—the seasonal flu, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)—will peak during the fall and winter months.
- Seasonal flu: Get an annual influenza vaccine (recommended for anyone 6 months and up).
- COVID-19: Get the updated booster to improve your immunity, which diminishes over time.
- RSV: If you are over age 60, ask your doctor about the new vaccine. (For parents of babies up to 2 years old, ask your pediatrician how to reduce your baby’s risk of getting RSV.) Vaccines are covered by the Plan at 100% when you use an in-network provider or CVS/Caremark pharmacy.
If You Get Sick, Get Care Fast
Here’s how to make the most of your benefits:
- Use the Wellness & Minor Care program. You pay a $20 copay (no deductible required). Learn more at aetf.com, Health & Welfare, Wellness & Minor Care Program.
- Go to the Coalition Health Center (Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Mat-Su Valley). You pay $20 per visit; $0 for preventive care and CDL physicals. Schedule an appointment at coalitionhealthcenter.com.
- Choose a virtual visit with Teladoc. You pay $0. Get started on the Teladoc app, go to teladoc.com, or call 1 (800) TELADOC (835-2362).
- Find an Aetna in-network provider. You’ll avoid having to pay any billed amounts that exceed the Plan’s allowed amount. Search for an Aetna provider at aetf.com, Medical Benefits, Using Preferred Providers Outside of Alaska or All of Alaska, and select the “Aetna Choice POS II (OpenAccess)” network.
