Save a Life
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine. It is often pressed into pills made to look like legitimate prescription opioids. As a result, over 150 people die in the U.S. every day from fentanyl poisoning.
Narcan, or the generic version naloxone, is a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid poisoning from fentanyl, heroin, and prescription opioid medications. It is easy to use, and small enough to carry in a backpack or purse or keep in a first aid kit in your home, vehicle, or workplace.
By having it on hand, you could save the life of someone experiencing opioid poisoning. Naloxone is available over the counter for about $50. While the Plan does not cover over-the-counter medications, it does cover prescription dosages of naloxone.
